Isn't it sad how social media is so very often not at all social - seems to bring out the worst in many. On publishing elsewhere, it is the same stuff, but just a slightly wider network, especially LinkedIn, which is in most respects is more important to me for work reasons. That's where most of my subscribers come from.
Thanks Mike - much appreciated. Sadly, I wish there were a few trite - or at least obvious - answers. Whether Brexiteer or Remainer, these are perplexing and worrying times.
Fully understand ... I've been on the receiving end of instant outrage ... I'm not sure if I'd dare voice another opinion on social media again - even if you've been invited to give one which I find quite sad. I'm also not sure whether I'd publish anything I'd written on social media solely because people interpret things differently. I think you are brave. I equally dislike the 'like/heart' button but at least it acknowledges you've been read. I didn't realise you were publishing elsewhere - I should have guessed!
I would be too apprehensive to comment just incase I used a phrase or cliche that irritates and annoys! I have my pet hates too .... but maybe thay are just used knowingly to stimulate a response. Your response was well worth reading I just wish it wasn't just on Substack - you need more readership as your views/opinions are well worth reading and make people think.
Thanks Freya, much appreciated. Sadly, we are in a period when a wrong word or phrase can produce a so-called 'social media pile-on' of instant outrage. I think a lot and review what I write very carefully before I publish. I put them on LinkedIn and my Facebook as well.

Such a thoughtful piece - really insightful, not least since it offers no trite answers. And I say that as a brexiteer ..l
